No. 27 State Water Heaters Chevrolet Silverado News and Notes

  • This Week’s Silverado… The No. 27 Hillman Racing Chevrolet Silverado team and driver Jeb Burton will utilize MHR-016 in Sunday’s inaugural 200-lap NCWTS race at Rockingham Speedway.  Piloting MHR-016, Burton turned his first laps in a NASCAR truck at Ace Speedway in Altamahaw, N.C., in an early February test session.  Trip Bruce, who led Johnny Benson to a truck series championship in 2008, will once again be atop the pit box calling the shots for 19-year-old Jeb Burton as he makes his second NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start this weekend.
  • Family Knows Best… The Burtons are no strangers to success at The Rock.  Ward Burton, Jeb’s father, won his first race in both the Sprint Cup Series (October 1995) and Nationwide Series (February 1992) at Rockingham Speedway. Ward’s brother, Jeff, also found Victory Lane at the track in both series as well.
  • Busy Burton… Jeb Burton spent last weekend racing his Late Model at both Ace Speedway and South Boston (Va.) Speedway.  Burton took the checkered flag last Friday night at Ace Speedway, leading the final 34 laps of the 75-lap feature.  His luck unfortunately didn’t hold out on Saturday night, when 20 laps from the checkered flag, he suffered motor issues while running in the third position.
  • Meet The Burtons… Fans will have the opportunity to meet Ward and Jeb Burton Friday evening at Rockingham Speedway’s Thunderfest 2012.  Jeb is scheduled to participate in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series autograph session in downtown Rockingham’s Harrington Square.  That session will feature several drivers from the NCWTS and will be held from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. EDT.  Ward Burton will visit the Moon Shine Attire souvenir rig – also located at the downtown Thunderfest celebration– on Friday evening to meet fan and sign souvenirs.  Moon Shine, LP, a premium designer of Moon Shine Attitude Attire™, is the “Official Apparel Company” of Hillman Racing.
  • Watch and Listen… The Good Sam Roadside Assistance 200 from Rockingham Speedway will be broadcast live on SPEED, MRN Radio and Sirius-XM NASCAR Radio, channel 90, on Sunday afternoon.  SPEED kicks off its pre-race coverage at 12:30 p.m. EDT, and MRN Radio will begin its live broadcast at 12:45 p.m. EDT on Sunday, April 15.

Jeb Burton on Rockingham Speedway:

“It’s exciting to be a part of the first truck series race at The Rock and the return of NASCAR racing to that track.  I just want to go out there and drive great.  I think I proved at Martinsville that I can run with those guys in the truck series, and it should have been a top-five finish.  Now I’m just looking to build on that momentum, and I think Rockingham will be a level playing field for most of the drivers since there hasn’t been a NASCAR race there since 2004.  I am going to try to take a look at one of my dad’s old tapes from one of his races there. My dad (Ward) had some good luck at that track, and so has my Uncle Jeff (Burton); they both have Cup Series wins there. I know it’s a special place for my dad because his first Busch Series (now Nationwide Series) and Cup Series wins were there. My dad also had several top -10 finishes, so he’ll have some great advice for me technically when it comes to racing at Rockingham. When he won the Busch Series race, my mom was pregnant with me at the time, so there are some really good memories for both my mom and dad at this track.”
