No. 27 State Water Heaters Chevrolet Silverado News and Notes

  • This Week’s Silverado… The No. 27 Hillman Racing Chevrolet Silverado team and driver Jeb Burton will utilize MHR-007 in Saturday’s 250-lap NCWTS race at Martinsville Speedway. Burton and the team tested at Rockingham Speedway’s “Little Rock” earlier this week in preparation of the Kroger 250. Trip Bruce, who led Johnny Benson to a truck series championship in 2008, will be atop the pit box calling the shots for 19-year-old Jeb Burton as he makes his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut this weekend.
  • Another Burton in NASCAR… Virginia’s Jeb Burton is making his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut this weekend, but the 19-year-old has two Late Model starts at Martinsville Speedway in the NASCAR Late Model Stock Car Division. Jeb is slated to run the next five races for Hillman Racing, following his father Ward’s eighth-place finish in the season-opening event at Daytona.
  • Moon Shine Attitude Attire… Hillman Racing welcomes Moon Shine, LP, a premium designer of Moon Shine Attitude AttireTM, in a new partnership with the organization. Moon Shine Attitude AttireTM will become the “Official Apparel Company” of Hillman Racing. Both Ward and Jeb Burton will visit the Moon Shine Apparel souvenir rig – located within the Martinsville Speedway midway area – on Friday, March 30 from 12:45 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. to meet fan and sign souvenirs.
  • Meet The Burtons… Fans will also have the opportunity to meet Ward and Jeb Burton on Friday afternoon at Martinsville Speedway. Both drivers will take part in NASCAR Camping World Truck Series autograph session in front of Martinsville Speedway’s main ticket office. That session will feature several drivers from the NCWTS and will be held near the Goodyear Legends display from 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. EDT.
  • Watch and Listen… The Kroger 250 from Martinsville Speedway will be broadcast live on SPEED, MRN Radio and Sirius-XM NASCAR Radio, channel 90, on Saturday afternoon. SPEED kicks off its pre-race coverage at 1:00 p.m. EDT, and MRN Radio will begin its live broadcast at 1:45 p.m. EDT on Saturday, March 31. Thursday afternoon will feature a live television broadcast of final practice at 2:00 p.m. EDT, and SPEED will also broadcast qualifying live on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. EDT.

Jeb Burton on Martinsville Speedway:

“You need to keep your nose clean and just watch for wrecks. I think starting up front is where you need to be. I think we’ll be good. We’ve got a good setup, and I have been there a couple of times with the Late Models. A lot of people are going to be getting used to the track. A lot of people (in the truck series) have never even seen the place before. It’s going to be a bunch of people trying to figure out where they need to run at.

“You’ve got to take care of your brakes, be easy in and hard off; that’s the key there. You win races by coming off the corners at Martinsville, so you rotate to the middle and get ‘em coming off. We did that in Late Model racing. I had a little bad luck last fall when we raced our Late Model Stock Car at Martinsville. I was running in the top five with six laps to go and had a little bad luck and finished 28th. The team put a good car under me and I showed that day what we can do.

“The first goal is to keep my nose clean, stay out of trouble and bring the truck home in one piece. The next goal is to finish in the top 15. I really feel like I can do that. I would be kind of disappointed with that in a way, because I want to be in the top ten. But, really, to finish anywhere between 15th and first would be like a win for me. If I can finish somewhere in that range, I won’t hold my head down. The big thing for me is keeping my nose clean, earning some respect and logging laps. Mike Hillman and his team are great to work with. I’ve just got to go out there Saturday and take care of my truck. They’ve worked hard on it, and I want to give the team a good finish they deserve.”
